Since Invisalign makes straightening your teeth efficient and discreet, there's no need to live with the embarrassment of crooked teeth any longer! Instead, imagine yourself smiling wide with confidence in pictures or at the next new person you meet. Confidence can be yours, and no one ever has to know you had orthodontic treatment. Here's how Invisalign works.

Invisalign: Step One

The first step in determining if Invisalign might be right for you is scheduling an evaluation with your dentist. Dr. Kim Doan at Sandpiper Dental is a certified Invisalign provider. She can advise you about the process and help you decide if Invisalign is the most effective treatment for your smile.

During your evaluation, Dr. Doan will take x-rays and pictures of your teeth and perform a thorough examination. If you move forward with treatment, Dr. Doan will create your treatment plan and submit it to Invisalign, which makes a series of clear plastic aligners that will move your teeth into alignment.

Invisalign: Step Two

You'll wear each series of aligners for one to three weeks, during your treatment according to Dr. Doan's plan. After that, you can change your aligners at home, and you'll visit Sandpiper Dental periodically for checkups to see how your treatment is progressing.

Invisalign: Step Three

Most patients complete their treatment in 12 to 18 months. After your treatment, you'll have a retainer that you'll wear only at night while you sleep to keep your teeth from shifting.

All that's left is to enjoy your new smile and share it with the world!

The Advantages of Invisalign

Invisalign offers several advantages over traditional metal braces:

  • Clear aligners are virtually invisible and provide the utmost discretion.
  • Aligners are easy to remove for meals and brushing, so there are no restrictions to your diet.
  • Aligners are smooth and comfortable to wear. There's no poking or scratchy metal wires and brackets to irritate your gums and soft tissues.
